A former French hill station located in the middle of the breathtaking landscape of North Vietnam, Sapa is one of the most wondrously scenic places in Asia and is a magical combination of natural beauty, ethnic culture and bracing mountain air. Sapa is the home of several ethnic minority tribes including the Black H’mong and Red Dzao andhere you will findthe perfect tranquilityof valleys, mountains, streams andwaterfalls and the warm welcome of the local people.

Day 1: Hanoi - Sapa - Cat Cat – Sin Chai (L)

7.00: Bus departs Hanoi for Sapa. Travelling via the Noi Bai-Lao Cai highway will take around 5 hours (245 kilometers) and you will have the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the region while on the road.

13.00: Arrive at Sapa and witness the colorful traditional costumes of the H’mong, Dzao and Tay ethnic people.

Welcome drink and itinerary briefing.

Enjoy a traditional Vietnamese lunch at Amazing Hotel Sapa followed by check-in procedures.

14:00: Explore Cat Cat and Shin Chai H’mong villages – visited by the colonial French and a renowned resort for officials from the early twentieth century. Arriving at Cat Cat village, visitors can see the hydroelectric power station and waterfall at Cat Cat village, as well as learning about the culture and customs of the unique people here who will showcase their traditional crafts such as weaving, carving silver and hand- forging agricultural tools.

Return to Sapa and spend the night at Amazing Hotel Sapa.

Day 2: Suoi Ho – Ma Tra – Ta Phin (B/L)

We begin the day with a 3-kilometer trek through breathtaking landscape to the village of Suoi Ho, home to the H’mong people. From here you can enjoy views over endless rice terraces and have the opportunity to see some of the animals used by the locals in their everyday life. Continuing on to Ma Tra village you will come across the impressive ruins of a church dating back to the French occupation in the early 1900s and take a minute to explore this intriguing sight with many photo opportunities. Trekking to the village of Ta Phin you will be able to meet both Black H’mong and Red Dzao citizens; the Red Dzao are known for their expertise in herbal medicine and use plants from the land to treat many illnesses. Your guide will be able to introduce you to some Red Dao women who can tell you more about their many remedies. A Red Dzao herbal medicine bath can be arranged for you to experience, so please ask and we will be delighted to arrange it. Transport will be provided from Ta Phin back to Sapa.

Spend the night at Amazing Hotel Sapa.

Day 3: Silver Waterfall – Heaven’s Gate– Sapa - Hanoi(B/L)

You will be met at around 8 a.m. by your local guide and driver and depart for the Silver Waterfall. The Silver Waterfall is located around half an hour from Sapa and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and lush forests of Hoang Lien National Park. It is recommended to stop by a farm for a cup of tea and chat with the people who will be delighted to give you an insight into local life. Then we continue our drive uphill to Heaven’s Gate, the highest stretch of road in Vietnam as well as the provincial border betweenLào Cai and Lai Chau provinces. The views are truly breathtaking!

16:00: The bus takes you back to Hanoi.

Trip includes:

  • Return journey by modern air – conditioned bus with comfortable seats and safe, professional drivers from Hanoi – Sapa.
  • 2 bottles of water and tissueson the bus.
  • English speaking tour guide from Hanoi – Sapa – Hanoi and local guide in Sapa.
  • Meals(3 lunches, 2 breakfasts).
  • All entrance tickets to the mentioned sites.
  • Accommodation: Double/Twin sharing (or Single room on request) for 2 nights at Amazing Hotel Sapa – a 4-star hotel in Sapa.

  • Drinks and other meals not indicated in the program.
  • Personal expenses (laundry, telephone, shopping).
  • Tipping/ Gratuities.
  • Single Supplement (upon request).
  • Any additional expenses caused by reasons beyond our control such as natural disasters (typhoon, floods etc.), flight delays, rescheduling or cancellations, any accidents, medical evacuation, riots, strikes etc.

Things to bring and extra information:

  • Warm clothing including a scarf, hat, and cap because the weather in Sapa can be unpredictable. It is normally cold from September to March.
  • Trekking shoes, sun glasses, sun cream and insect repellent are also necessary. You should bring Vietnamese Dong as the banking system in Sapa is sometimes slightly problematic. US Dollars, Euros and Australian Dollars are all accepted in Sapa.
  • Due to the high altitude of Sapa it is sometimes foggy from December to March.
  • You should bring any medicine you may require with you although there are some chemist’s shops available in Sapa.
